Technicians Service Training

Feb 9th 2009 - Auburn, Massachusetts
Feb 10th 2009 - Southbury, Connecticut
Feb 11th 2009 - Totowa, New Jersey
Feb 12th 2009 - Mahopac, New York

Bernie will be teaching:

Use of the Oscilloscope

This is an advanced class on oscilloscope use. In order to understand electronic circuits you must first understand the relationship between the electronic devices. The oscilloscope is the technician’s window into this world of waveform relationships. This course will start with how the waveform is created. New and practical techniques for analyzing waveforms will be presented. This course will move to the interaction of waveforms and how to determine where the failure is located. This course will include real world problems explained in detail so you will be able to use this information in the service bay for faster diagnostics of modern vehicles.

Vision Hi-Tech Training & Expo

March 6th - 8th 2009 booth #301
Overland Park Convention Center
Kansas City, Missouri

Bernie will be teaching 2 classes at Vision:

Analyzing Ignition Waveforms on Sat. March 7th from 8:30AM - 11:30AM & Use of the Oscilliscope on Sun. March 8th from 8:30AM - 11:30AM.

Analyzing Ignition Waveforms – Level II & III
This is an advanced class on the ignition system and the patterns that it produces. This class provides an in-depth understanding of the ignition waveform. Many problems in the service bay can be rapidly diagnosed, saving hours of diagnostic time. The problem is that most technicians do not understand how to interpret the voltage changes that occur and what these changes represent. This class will cover the interpretation of this waveform so technician will understand if the ignition ionization occurred inside or outside of the cylinder and what material the electrons traveled through; air, plastic, rubber, porcelain, or a carbon bridge.

Showpower Expo

March 26th - 28th 2009
Kentucky International Convention Center
Louisville, Kentucky

Bernie will be teaching the 80 min course:

Understanding Controller Area Network
Vehicles have been networked or multiplexed for several decades. In car networking allows different processors to communicate and transfer data on what is known as a communications bus. Many different multiplexed protocols have been used in vehicles over the years but one protocol has emerged as the standard in the automotive industry, Controller Area Network (CAN). This protocol was written in the 1980’s by Bosch to run the manufacturing machines in their company. It soon found its way from the manufacturing industry into the automobile. CAN is required by law to be implemented in all vehicles sold in the United States by 2008 and has been widely used in vehicles since 2005. In this course we will cover the inner workings of the Controller Area Network System.
